Transcending Boundaries Seminar is the new seminar dedicated to our Pre-Master students, which aims to develop a deep understanding of the major contemporary challenges facing societies and organizations worldwide, through a transdisciplinary approach.
Our future is characterized by rapid change, unpredictability, ambiguity, uncertainty, and complexity. Addressing future global challenges requires a holistic approach and a comprehensive understanding of the key stakeholders and their differing perspectives. Developing propositions to address tomorrow's global challenges requires transdisciplinary knowledge and paradoxical thinking that transcends boundaries, integrating insights from natural sciences, business, technology, social systems, and the humanities.
For these reasons, ESSEC created in 2026 Transcending Boundaries, a one week seminar addressed to more than 445 pre-master ESSEC students.
Based on transdisciplinary principles the key objectives of the seminar include:
Understanding the complexities of key global challenges societies and businesses are currently facing
Exploring these challenges through a transdisciplinary perspective that is comprised by environmental, socio-economical, technological, geopolitical, and other key lenses.
Developing propositions in form of practical and applicable actions and policies that address these challenges and their key stakeholders
Getting to know fellow new students and being introduced to collaborating in teams
